Vanuatu 12km Run

In the lead-up to the Vanuatu International Half Marathon, scheduled for the 31st July 2010, the event organisers invited Fit 4 Travel to attend one race of their running series.

Darren was the fortunate one this time, and as such competed in the 12km race on May 8th.

The 12km race utilised the same run course which is being used for the Half Marathon, starting at Kordom Stadium located in Port Vila, and following the roads through to Erakor.

The run course is noted as undulating, and it was certainly that… with a couple of decent hills in there too!  The greatest part of the race was the constant applause received from local supporters as you ran past their houses, it was certainly a great lift and assisted in getting you up to the top of some of the hills.  Thanks for the support guys!

The race endured all seasons, commencing with beautiful sunny weather & blue skies, then moving swiftly into a tropical rain & wind… but at least the rain kept the competitiors cool!

The race was won by a local ni-van competitor, completing the course in just under 43mins … well done!

If you are thinking about a race in the coming months, and don’t want to complete a full marathon, then maybe this race is for you.

Vanuatu is a sensational destination, extremely close by plane to Brisbane & Sydney, and has some exceptional accommodation deals on at the moment.
