Taupo Cycle Challenge 2010 Tour

25th November 2010 - 29th November 2010

This travel package will be hosted by FIT 4 Travel & our partners. We’ll look after the transport, accommodation and refreshments. You concentrate on the cycle ride. We’ll drive the minivan and trailer for all blanket wrapped bikes, you worry about enjoying the scenery and carbo-loading along the way.

Riders can choose solo, endurance or relay challenges based around a 160 km circumnavigation of Lake Taupo and the event has recently added a range of mountain bike challenges to complement the road events. While the event is largely non competitive and caters for every level of rider it does offer three race options for elite cyclists.

TOUR ITINERARY
Thursday 25 November

- Depart early for mid-morning ferry

- Cross to Wellington and drive to Taupo

- Overnight Accomodation in Taupo

Friday 26 November
- After a leisurely breakfast, a morning cycle round Taupo Bay,
- Friday evening to registration and ‘event village’ to soak the atmosphere.
- Psych-up watching the Elite Riders Street Race followed by a Wildside Pasta Dinner

Saturday 27 November Race Day .
- Prizegiving 6pm
- Celebratory evening meal and drinks – hosted by Wildside.

Sunday 28 November
- Leisurely breakfast
- Free morning in Taupo. Hot pool soak.
- Afternoon drive to Martinborough and overnight

Monday 29 November
- Leisurely breakfast, a cycle ride in the Martinborough district
- Early afternoon ferry to Picton arrive 5.25pm and head home.

Individuals $90 (160km - single circuit of Lake Taupo)

Enduro $90 (320km - twice around Lake Taupo)

Maxi Enduro $90 (640km - four times around Lake Taupo)

Extreme Enduro $90 (1,280km - eight times around Lake Taupo)

Tandem $180 (160km circuit of the lake on a tandem bike)

Team Relay $95 (4 x 40 km legs - 2, 3 or 4 riders)
